Napier or elephant grass is a perennial grass that provides nutritious and palatable green fodder year round. It contains about 8.2% protein, 34% crude fibre, 10.5% ash with both calcium and phosphorus in proper balance. For hay-making this grass is too coarse, but it can be used for silage.

  Climatic Requirements

Napier Grass can grow both under tropical and sub-tropical region, but it grows best under warm tropics. Grass stands drought for short spell and regenerates with rain. It is very susceptible to frost.
