Plum is a nutritious and multiuseful fruit. It contains good amounts of vitamin C and A. Apart from vitamins, it also contains good amounts of calcium, phosphorus and iron etc.
 

  Soil

 

Plum tree can even grow on those bad and infertile lands where other trees cannot grow. Slightly alkaline soil is the best.

 

  Sowing

 

The sowing of Plum is done from August to September. For this at the distance of 9 X 9 m holes are dug. Holes are filled with mixture of soil and decomposed manure in 1:1 ratio.

  Transplanting

 

Mainly transplantation of Plums are done by kalikayan. Seeds are taken from fully ripe fruits in March-April then they are sowed in seed beds. These seeds grow within 3-4 weeks.

  Production

 

Plum starts giving fruits at the age of 2-3 years. The ripening stage in north India is between mid February and mid April.
