Broccoli is very famous among vegetables. There is high demand for this vegetable in five star hotels and tourist places. Those farmers who cultivate it and sold it in the right market get benefits, because many times the price goes upto 30-50 Rs/kg.

 

  Climatic Requirements

 
Broccoli can be cultivated in northern Indian plains in winter from mid September to February.

  Sowing

 

When all the saplings are 4 weeks old or attain the height of 8-10 cm, they can be transplanted in prepared field in beds at the distance of 15-60 cm, the distance between plantlets should be 45 cm. During transplantation there should be enough moisture content in the soil, after transplantation irrrigation is crucial. The best time for transplantation is between noon and evening.

This crop can be cultivated in many types of soil but for successful cultivation sandy-loamy or loamy soil is suitable.

  Harvesting and Production

 

When the crop turns to green clusters of buds, it should be cut with a sharp knife. The cut one should be compactly arranged and buds should not be open.
