Cucumber is an important vegetable. It is produced in spring and in the rainy season. It is used in salads. It helps human body to cool down in summer. Its seeds are used in medicines.

 

  Soil and Climate

 

It can be produced in any kind of soil but sandy soil is the best with pH between 6-7. Irrigation should be done weekly in summer.

It is sown from mid February to first week of March and in July-August.

Irrigation should be done on every 5th day after the flowers appear. It requires more water therefore soil must be kept moist.

The duration of Cucumber is between 45 days and 75 days. It yields 80-120 quintal per hectare. Out of season Cucumber can be grown in pali house, by which good income can be generated.
